Letter From Debbie

Hello everybody;

I have a lot of respect for Mary and Dan. I've got my hands full with two teenage boys and can't even imagine having eight kids, six of them teens still living at home. Teenagers have their own special rhythms that remain a mystery to us all even though we've lived through those same years ourselves.

They do need a space of their own to hang out with friends, and with such a large household, that space requires practical design and hardworking materials as well as some imagination.

When I first saw the basement I was prepared for the sagging ceiling tiles and ripped wall paneling. We had great plans for this room. However, what I was not expecting was the sorry state of the laundry room that opens just off the recreation room. It just did not seem fair that the kids were surprising their mom with a new family room when she had to face an unfinished shabby corner every day with loads of laundry.

The Facelift crew is truly remarkable. Their job of turning around renovations in a few short days is always an endurance test, and I made it more difficult by adding one more room to the list. We had no time to build walls and box in heating ducks, but it is amazing what a couple of coats of white paint can do.

The junk was cleared out, and every surface including concrete, wood, drywall, and metal ducts was primed and painted. Fantastic storage solutions are all the rage now; stores are full of a variety of shelving units and containers that control the clutter.

With many hands working, even the teens, the laundry room was completed along with the fabulous basement, and I think Mary got the biggest kick out of the laundry room. It looks so good now that just maybe, the kids will take turns throwing in a load or two while they're enjoying their new lounging space.

Letter From The Homeowners

Dear Debbie,

After a week of living with our new basement, reality is now sinking in. My husband and I are totally in awe at what you accomplished in such a short time. The materials used and the attention to detail is outstanding. The spacious computer table, the colorful wall unit, the lazy susan tables, the light up photos of the children on the wall and the sofa are all incredible. We can't tell you how much we love our facelift! We are also amazed that everything was so well orchestrated with our daughter Andrea and that we had no clue about what was about to happen!

I also appreciate the kind attention you spent with my youngest daughter, Laura. She was made to feel very special. The fact that all the children could be a part of the facelift as well as my sisters, nephews and nieces is very dear to me. You all became part of my family that weekend. The professionalism of the crew is remarkable. I realize that many of you went without sleep to get things done. I also appreciate that you realized how I like to keep the house tidy. My home was immaculate when I came home, thanks to everyone.

I would finally like to say that my laundry room is a dream come true! I have always spent a lot of time down there but now doing laundry doesn't not seem like the chore it once was, with my beautiful new appliances, freshly painted walls and with the shelves so well organized. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for coming into our lives and making our home and our family extra special.
