Letter From Debbie

Hello Everybody;

Once again, I couldn't resist. When Ken wrote asking us to surprise his new bride with a bedroom makeover while they were away on their honeymoon, I turned him down saying time was too tight, but swore him to secrecy in case we could get around to it at a later date. I then quickly got on the phone to his parents.

When I first met Ken and Laurelle's moms, my mouth literally dropped open as these impish mothers-in-law told me their plan. They were so proud of how their children had set up their first home together on the tightest shoestring budget.

The dads had helped with some of the construction projects and the moms had rounded up gently used furnishings. Their devilish plan was not only to surprise the kids with a new bedroom and home office.

While Ken and Laurelle were on honeymoon in Mexico, they wanted something more ... they wanted me to design a nursery.

Since the newlyweds had no new baby in sight I was a little confused, but these wannabe grandmothers were thinking ahead.

It felt a little cheeky, but who am I to argue with a couple of kindhearted mothers, and as you will see, it all turned out for the best.

Ken and Laurelle returned home from their honeymoon to a new master bedroom, a new home office, and the sweetest baby room. Now they must work on that baby.

Letter From The Newlyweds

Dear Debbie;

A new house, a wedding, a fantastic honeymoon, and an awesome home makeover! What an incredible year it has been for us. How can we ever thank you for transforming our drab second floor into a serene and beautiful place?

Imagine our sheer amazement when we arrived home from our honeymoon to find rose petals leading upstairs. "What a romantic man I've married," I thought to myself. It turns out he was just as shocked as I was. Upon entering our bedroom our surprise welcome home continued with Debbie and her crew standing in our beautiful new room. The wonderful new look got better with each room we entered.

The fantastic Facelift crew worked tirelessly, and the event was made even more special with the participation and shared excitement from our family and friends. Thank you Debbie and your incredible crew. We'll be sure to let you know when we can put "the baby's room" to proper use!

P.S. From Ken

Sitting on the beach in sunny Mexico with Laurelle, I agonized over whether to tell her about my visit to Debbie's office, but remembering what Debbie had said, I kept it to myself. (Not an easy task after a few margaritas under the noon day sun!) To see Laurelle scream and jump up and down when we got home was worth the wait. The change in the bedroom was remarkable, and then to see the wall open up into the sunroom/eventual baby's room completely blew me away. Being led into the home office/guest room knocked me off my feet.

I love what you did with the office. So many times I have been teased about my ugly desk and cushionless futon. The room is now such a great place to work from that it actually draws me to it instead of making me want to procrastinate with some other chores around the house.

Thank you so much Debbie and the entire Facelift crew. It has been a truly wonderful experience.
