Letter From Debbie

Hi everybody;

When we are deciding on a style for a perspective Facelift 'victim', we set up a hidden camera somewhere and try to discover his or her visions of an ideal space. We do not always get all the information we need, sometimes we get nothing that helps, but in Debbie's case we heard an item-by-item account of her dream bedroom.

As Debbie sat over coffee with her neighbour, she poured out every possible decorating detail from her love of dark floors to a four-poster bed. Her perfect en suite bathroom would have Caribbean flair.

The challenge for us was not the bedroom design--Debbie had made that part very easy; she would get her breezy island room. However, this was our first complete bathroom redo on Facelift; a brand new bathroom in just four days!

The first 24 hours were spent ripping off old wallpaper, and knocking down walls. Debbie had a clothes closet in her bathroom, which is a no-no because of all the heat and moisture. This space gave us room for a bathtub, which she didn't have before.

The plastering and rebuilding took far longer than expected. With only 30 hours to go we had to build new cupboards for her clothes, and stencil a lattice over all the cupboard surfaces.

We built a four-poster bed and stained it the deepest mahogany, laid a new hardwood floor, made curtains, painted a tropical theme on the bathroom walls and applied the most expensive wallpaper to the bedroom walls. We were still making the bed when Debbie returned home.

After all the screams and tears, she explained that the first thought that came into her mind when she walked in was that this is Facelift, and that means Debbie Travis is somewhere in my bedroom. Indeed I was. Well, actually, I was hiding in her new shower.

Letter From Homeowner Debbie

Dear Debbie;

I can't believe I received a Debbie Travis Facelift! I wake up every morning in this wonderful new room and feel like I am in Jamaica.

I'm amazed that Debbie's team was able to take a pit and transform it into a classy, elegant suite in just four days. As a decorating consultant I believe the secret to any great room is in the details. Anyone can make a change to a room with some paint, fabric and a few hundred dollars.

But Facelift goes far beyond those boundaries and focuses on every detail. The custom moulding, new flooring, the bed, built-in cabinets, and hand-painted wallpaper are awesome, but the entire gutting and makeover of the bathroom is beyond a wish come true.

I am in awe of what my daughters and husband did for me. Heather's email to you started an adventure that culminated in the surprise of a lifetime. There are not enough words to describe my gratitude to them.

Thank you for everything, Debbie. My one disappointment is not to have been part of the frantic four-day frenzy that led to my big surprise. I hear regularly from the girls about what went on, and I can only imagine. I've been told the team is hard working and great fun. Thank you to everyone for my dream come true.
