Letter From Debbie

Hi Everyone;

There are always unsuspected twists and turns in every Facelift, just as there are in all families. Nothing is ever quite what it seems. Jodi, a newly married young lady from Boston, wrote to us with one of today's most common decorating dilemmas.

Actually, two. The first was her home. It was a brand new cookie-cutter style house where each room flowed into the next. Her husband Luigi and Jodi could not work out how to paint and decorate, where to start and stop colors, how to make it feel like a real home.

The second common problem was her husband. He did not seem to care and showed little interest in lending a hand, or even discussing solutions. This we proved when we hid a camera inside their laundry room while Jodi quizzed him on ideas and color preferences. He barely responded! We assumed it wasn't a guy thing to make a big deal about it. So, we decided to help Jodi and surprise Luigi with a completely redesigned main floor.

As it turned out, we were the ones to be surprised. The day after our secret camera episode, Luigi emailed us, saying he felt guilty about not helping his wife, and could we come to the rescue? We ignored his plea, but when he went out of town on business, we moved in.

We came up with a lush color scheme to run throughout the entrance hall, living and dining areas, kitchen and powder room; we added moldings, window treatments and furnishings.

Jodi was so overwrought with her new dнor, and the prospect of facing Luigi when he returned to a finished home, that we were more concerned about her reactions than Luigi's. As it turned out, Jodi was sobbing and ecstatic, but in true guy fashion, Luigi took it all in stride.

Luigi wrote:

I was truly surprised when I walked in the front door of my "new home". I love the fireplace and the molding. The gray walls are awesome. The washroom is amazing. It seemed so unreal walking into the house with Debbie and Jim there to greet me--especially after admiring Jim's artistic talent on so many episodes of the show. Thank you very much for making our house so warm and cozy.

What an experience. Thank you all so much for your hard work. I can't believe how you made our house a home. I was breathless and speechless when I got to see the house for the very first time. Our first floor looks like a picture in a magazine. It was such a pleasure getting to know all of you. What a wonderful group of people you are. I love coming home.

There are not enough words to describe how we feel about our new first floor. We love it.
