![]() Letter From DebbieGoing to work every day is what so many of us do. If we are lucky we enjoy our job, and if we are extremely lucky we enjoy our boss. Well Marie-Christine (MC) has the coolest boss ever. Mr. Bailey decided that his hardworking personal assistant needed her office space updated, and turned to me and the Facelift team for help. ![]() Well, it had to be a surprise, of course, and so we secretly asked around MC's workplace to find out how she felt about her office. Her colleagues told us that she wasn't happy with the size--there was no room for others to sit. She disliked the way her filing cabinets were awkwardly positioned. ![]() But MC's big peeve was the giant, ugly pipes that took up one whole corner. She had apparently complained several times to the correct authorities, but there was no removing them. MC works for a large brewery and the offices are in a beautifully renovated old factory. It was just bad luck that these large vertical pipes still remained. ![]() The Facelift team moved in over the weekend and even Mr. Bailey stayed to help. We zapped up MC's office with a geometric pattern on the walls--ensured to increase work productivity. We took a tiny bit of Mr. Bailey's office to enable us to tuck MC's filing cabinets into the space. What a boss! This gave us more room to add a small seating area for her colleagues. ![]() We added cool lighting, rearranged her furniture, and best of all, we hid the industrial pipes from view with a movable screen. This was made from three hollow core doors, coated with the most amazing metallic paint. It goes on as a primer and then is base coated in any color. The surface is now magnetic and can be used as a huge notice board. All the great ideas and projects in MC's office would work just as well at home. Maybe it's time you had a chat with your boss. ![]() Mr. Bailey and I hid behind the screen early Monday morning waiting for an unsuspecting MC to open her office door. I don't know what shocked her more, the camera crew, a beautiful new office, me jumping out from behind the screen or the now camouflaged pipes. Where had they gone? Perhaps the biggest shock was her boss serving her breakfast at her desk. What a way to start the workweek. Debbie ![]() Letter From MCDear Debbie! Mondays! How I hate Mondays! Well, that's what I used to say before I arrived at work on this particular Monday and saw that you and your team had been by my office and completely redesigned it. WOW! Words cannot describe what I experienced. It was really mind-boggling when I learned about everything that went on behind my back. Someone even came into my office the week before with a hidden camera and I didn't suspect anything. I have to admit I was paranoid for a couple of days and was trying very hard to remember what I did and said when I was alone in my office on the days prior to the makeover. ![]() Let me assure you that the post-stress syndrome I endured was a small price to pay for this fabulous experience. I love my new office soooo much. I am still amazed at what you did Debbie. Besides being the best designer, it's clear to me now that you have extraordinary selling powers to have convinced my boss to give up part of his office for my benefit. I really appreciate John's generous gesture and in all honesty his office looks so much better now and is far more practical. The attention to all the details in this project really touches me. I was always a fan of yours, but now I'm without a doubt your biggest fan. Since this super facelift, I even feel like showing up at the office at 8.30 now... ![]() Many thanks to your wonderful team for their professionalism and expertise. And thanks to you Debbie, I love Mondays, and Tuesdays, and Wednesdays... P.S. John (Mr. Bailey) won't be reading this, right? Yours sincerely, |
