![]() BeforeWhen Cathy and Charles moved in, they had to wait a year before they could do any paint jobs, to allow time for the new house to properly dry and settle. Meanwhile, Cathy dreamed of the day she could jazz up her space, add vibrant color to her boring white walls, and build shelving to accommodate her many boxes of books. AfterIt's a dream come true! The partition wall glitters with gold, the fireplace oozes warmth with its faux bois effect, and the terracotta walls are the perfect complement to Cathy's large comfy couches. All that and a quirky touch of wrought iron, create the perfect ambience for this adventurous couple.

We sanded, primed and then basecoated in Para Paint P1895-5 - Juniper Berry. After it had dried thoroughly, we sanded back the edges of the shelves and applied a waterbased, teak-colored stain to antique the wood showing through the basecoat. A coat of varnish was finally added for protection. To see RONA's entire line of great shelving, go to www.rona.ca. Chairsa little out of the way, a lot out of the ordinary - Elte graciously gave us widely diverse offerings of specialty home furnishings, such as the gorgeous new dining table and chairs to help put the finishing touches on Cathy's home. Cathy loves gold, and Masterpieces took full advantage by creating a precious-metal look. They Skimmed the wall with Venetian plaster and while wet applied a gold metallic foil on top. When completely dry, a spatula was used to remove any loose plaster or gold foil. More Venetian plaster was then applied, leaving some small areas of gold leaf still showing. The wall was sanded slightly, and finally a light glaze was added for an antique effect.
